Privacy
What we collect
Account: your email address, used to verify that each person votes once. Vote integrity signals: when you vote we record a one-way hashed device fingerprint and hashed IP address. We collect these to detect ballot-stuffing; they cannot be reversed into the original values. Content you submit: nominations, votes, reports, and claims.
What we never do
We do not sell personal information. We do not display who voted for whom — public pages show aggregate counts only. We do not harvest email addresses from business websites.
Retention
Fingerprint and IP hashes are deleted 90 days after a voting season ends. Account data is kept while your account exists.
Your rights
From your account page you can export all data we hold about you or delete your account entirely — both are self-serve and immediate. For anything else, contact the privacy officer at privacy@hometownhonours.ca; we respond within 30 days as required by PIPEDA.
Consent
Creating an account requires agreeing to this policy — the checkbox timestamp is stored with your profile. Withdrawing consent is the same as deleting your account, which you can do yourself at any time.
